Original matte black dial which has since taken on an appealing and consistent tropical patina, radium lume plots and original hands (a small amount of loss to the hour hand - but having had our watchmaker inspect the watch during service it is stable)
Numerals and outer track entirely intact, with a slight gloss finish and raised under raking light
Case is solid and not messed around with - caseback engravings deep and crisp
All in all this is an almost inexplicably sound survivor of WWII - so many of these Dirty Dozen watches have had all manner of interventions from (badly) re-welded fixed bars, to garish green lume - this is not such an example - it is as solid as the day the solider was bestowed it
The radium is warm and puffy, the fixed (18 mm) lugs are thick and straight; the caseback notches do show evidence of some rather careless opening over the years but are deep and consistent nonetheless
The watch has undergone a full service from our trusted watchmaker and is currently keeping exceptional time; as well as having had a NOS crystal fitted - it'll be hard to find a better example of this icon
